Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has proposed a $50 million bail package, hoping to secure release from a Brooklyn jail, where he has been held for the past eight weeks on charges including sex trafficking. Diddy, who has faced repeated bail denials due to concerns he might influence witnesses, is now offering to use his Florida mansion, recently searched by the FBI, as collateral.
Despite Diddy’s offer, his legal team encountered a setback on November 8, when a judge declined their request to prevent witnesses from testifying, emphasizing the alleged victims’ right to free speech.
Diddy’s renewed $50 million bail proposal aims to ensure his release before next year’s trial. Along with the substantial amount, he has included his own and his mother’s properties in Florida to back the bail. His attorneys are also countering arguments that he could be a flight risk or a public danger, claiming that the charges have been overstated.
Diddy’s defense team has presented additional evidence they believe weakens the prosecution’s case. They dispute the relevance of a 2016 video where Diddy was seen hitting his ex-girlfriend, arguing that it portrays a moment in an ongoing consensual relationship, unrelated to the accusations of forced encounters.
Furthermore, his defense claims that the jail conditions are infringing on his constitutional rights by limiting his ability to collaborate with his attorneys on his case.
