Excitement is building as filming for the second season of “Peacemaker” has officially begun, more than two years after the conclusion of its first season. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios and acclaimed filmmaker, took to social media on Saturday, April 13, to announce the news. He posted a selfie with the iconic shiny silver helmet of Peacemaker, captioning it “Day 1 S2,” signaling the start of production.
James Gunn, known for his active social media presence, responded to a fan’s query on how he could be working on both “Peacemaker” and a Superman movie simultaneously. He explained on Threads that he was taking advantage of the weekend to pre-shoot, stating, “It’s a Saturday. Pre-shoot.”
Further clarifying his involvement, Gunn shared that while he is directing some episodes of “Peacemaker” Season 2—including the day’s shoot—other talented directors will also helm parts of the season. This collaborative approach marks a slight shift from the first season, where Gunn directed five episodes and was initially reported to be directing the entire second season.
“Peacemaker,” starring John Cena as Christopher Smith, is the first spinoff show from the 2021 movie “Suicide Squad.” The series explores Smith’s extreme, often comedic commitment to peace, no matter the cost. Returning alongside Cena are cast members Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Robert Patrick, and Jennifer Holland, ensuring the continuation of the dynamic ensemble.
