The Israeli military conducted a series of airstrikes overnight across multiple regions in southern and eastern Lebanon, reporting that the operations were aimed at dismantling Hezbollah-affiliated sites and weapon storage facilities. According to official statements, approximately 20 airstrikes were carried out during the operation.
In the south, air raids were reported on the outskirts of several towns within the Sidon district, including al-Bissariyeh, Bnaafoul, and Qaaqaaiyet al-Snoubar. Additional targets were located in the Ras Mazeh heights area of Iqlim al-Tuffah, as well as the al-Rihan, al-Jabbour, and al-Srayra areas in the Jezzine district. The southern Bint Jbeil district, specifically near the village of Ramia, was also among the regions struck.
Further north, four separate airstrikes were launched on the outskirts of Shmestar, a town situated in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. The region has historically been regarded as a logistical corridor for Hezbollah activity.
Israel Cites Preventive Measures Against Hezbollah’s Rebuilding Efforts
In a statement, the Israeli military asserted that the targeted sites were part of Hezbollah’s military infrastructure. The locations reportedly included facilities containing combat equipment and missile launch platforms. According to the army, these areas had previously been bombed and were now under reconstruction by Hezbollah operatives.
The military also claimed that some of the targeted infrastructure was located in areas where Hezbollah has recently attempted to reestablish its operational presence following previous attacks. The Israeli statement emphasized that the presence of such equipment, along with the activity of armed elements, violated existing understandings between the two countries aimed at minimizing cross-border hostilities.
Israel’s military spokesperson warned that these developments would not be tolerated and reiterated the country’s position that it reserves the right to take proactive measures against perceived threats. The statement concluded by affirming Israel’s intention to continue neutralizing any efforts by Hezbollah to expand or rebuild its military infrastructure within Lebanese territory.
