In an airstrike conducted by Israel in southern Lebanon near Tyre, a senior Hamas official was killed on Wednesday. The strike, carried out by an Israeli drone, targeted a vehicle on the al-Hosh Road, just south of Tyre. At the scene, emergency services were observed retrieving human remains from the wreckage of a vehicle that was consumed by fire, located near the Rashidiyah Palestinian refugee camp.
The Civil Defense reported that the strike resulted in two fatalities and one injury. According to Palestinian sources, Hadi Mustafa, a senior figure from Hamas residing in the Rashidiyah camp, was among those killed.
This recent airstrike, happening close to Tyre, marks the nearest attack to the city since the conflict began, occurring approximately two kilometers from the coastal city. Additionally, on the same day, Israeli forces conducted strikes in Marjayoun and the areas surrounding Naqoura.
The day before, northeastern Lebanon near Baalbek witnessed Israeli airstrikes that led to at least two deaths and injured 20 people. Concurrently, Hezbollah launched 12 attacks against Israel, including firing over 100 rockets at the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Since the onset of the Gaza conflict, the violence has resulted in the deaths of over 220 Hezbollah fighters and nearly 40 Lebanese civilians. On the Israeli side, the conflict has claimed the lives of nine soldiers and 10 civilians, with frequent clashes occurring along the Lebanon-Israel border. International efforts are ongoing to prevent the escalation into a full-scale war in Lebanon.
