Lebanon’s civil defense authority reported that an Israeli airstrike on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of five of its personnel in the southern part of the country. The health ministry condemned the strike, which targeted rescue workers.
According to the civil defense body, the five personnel were killed while stationed at a civil defense center in the predominantly Christian village of Derdghaiya, located in the Tyre district. They were on duty, prepared to respond to emergency calls when the strike occurred.
Lebanon’s health ministry noted that the death toll of five is provisional and urged the international community to take a “firm stance” against Israel’s repeated attacks on rescue and ambulance teams.
