Israeli Attacks Target Areas Surrounding Damascus

Early on Tuesday, the outskirts of Damascus were targeted by a series of Israeli airstrikes, causing damage to materials, as reported by Syrian state media.

The state-run news agency SANA, quoting an unnamed military source, indicated that the airstrikes originated from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and occurred around 4:30 a.m. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based opposition war monitoring group, stated that the strikes impacted a Syrian army artillery unit where Hezbollah members, a Lebanese militant group, were present.

Israel has frequently conducted strikes in parts of government-controlled Syria over the years. On the occasions it has acknowledged these strikes, Israel has claimed it is targeting groups backed by Iran that support Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime. The Observatory noted that Israel had executed 76 attacks on Syrian territory in 2023.

Additionally, on Monday, the Israeli military reported detecting five missiles launched from Syria that landed in unpopulated areas.
