The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed that they carried out airstrikes overnight targeting what they described as Hezbollah military infrastructure in southern Lebanon. According to the IDF, these operations aimed to prevent Hezbollah from reestablishing a military presence in areas disguised as civilian zones.
Despite the ceasefire agreement implemented on November 27 to end more than a year of hostilities, Israel has maintained an almost daily pace of airstrikes against Hezbollah-affiliated targets. The military stated that it would continue to act against any efforts by Hezbollah to rebuild its operational capabilities near the border.
Hezbollah, though significantly weakened by recent fighting, claims it remains in compliance with the truce. However, Israeli forces have continued their operations, citing security concerns and violations.
In a related development, the Lebanese army announced the arrest of several individuals suspected of launching rockets into Israeli territory. Security sources told AFP that at least three of those apprehended are affiliated with Hamas, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing tensions between Lebanon and Israel.
