Israel Strikes Janta in Bekaa Amid Escalating Border Tensions

The Israeli army announced that it conducted overnight raids on Hezbollah targets in southern and eastern Lebanon, hitting “air defense infrastructure” and a weapons depot.

Israeli warplanes targeted Janta, a village in the Bekaa Valley, and the southern towns of Baraashit and Kfarkila, while Israeli artillery shelled Yaroun. Additionally, a drone strike hit the southern town of Hadatha.

On Tuesday evening, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah declared that Hezbollah would continue its fight against Israel and would not be deterred from supporting Gaza. He criticized other Arab and Muslim nations for not doing enough to aid the Palestinian people.

Since October, Hezbollah has been involved in almost daily cross-border exchanges of fire with the Israeli army in support of Gaza. Israel has responded by targeting Hezbollah operatives in both Lebanon and neighboring Syria.

The cross-border violence in Lebanon since October 7 has resulted in nearly 500 deaths, mostly among fighters but also including 95 civilians, according to AFP. On the Israeli side, at least 29 people have been killed, primarily soldiers, according to Israeli authorities.
