Watch: Israel Rejects French Role in Lebanon Truce Talks; US, Lebanon Officials Optimistic

According to reports from Arab and Israeli media, Israel has informed U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein that it opposes France’s involvement in the monitoring committee overseeing any ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.

U.S. sources indicated to Israel’s Channel 12 that Israel and Lebanon are close to reaching an agreement that could be finalized in a matter of days.

Lebanese officials told Sky News Arabia that contacts might result in a ceasefire agreement by the weekend, provided no new obstacles arise.

Al-Jadeed TV reported that the U.S. received positive signals from Israel about the meetings, though the agreement still requires further discussion.
