Watch: Israel Rejects French Role in Lebanon Truce Talks; US, Lebanon Officials Optimistic

According to reports from Arab and Israeli media, Israel has informed U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein that it opposes Franceโ€™s involvement in the monitoring committee overseeing any ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.

U.S. sources indicated to Israelโ€™s Channel 12 that Israel and Lebanon are close to reaching an agreement that could be finalized in a matter of days.

Lebanese officials told Sky News Arabia that contacts might result in a ceasefire agreement by the weekend, provided no new obstacles arise.

Al-Jadeed TV reported that the U.S. received positive signals from Israel about the meetings, though the agreement still requires further discussion.
