Israel Hits Thousands of Hezbollah Targets in Lebanon, Syria During Gaza Conflict

Israeli Army spokesperson Daniel Hagari reported that since the onset of the conflict with Hamas in Gaza in October, Israel has targeted Hezbollah in Syria and Lebanon with numerous strikes. Hagari revealed that over 50 Hezbollah positions in Syria have been hit by Israeli forces from both ground and air. Additionally, in southern Lebanon, there have been more than 3,400 strikes against Hezbollah.

Hezbollah, known for its support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Syria’s civil war, is also allied with the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas. Israel, while typically not commenting on specific strikes in Syria, has consistently expressed its intention to prevent Iran, a supporter of Assad, from strengthening its foothold in the region.

The conflict between Hamas and Israel, which began on October 7, has led to almost daily exchanges of fire at the Lebanese-Israeli border, primarily involving the Israeli army and Hezbollah.

According to an AFP tally, the conflict has resulted in the death of at least 218 people in Lebanon, including a majority of Hezbollah fighters and at least 26 civilians.

Hagari stated on Saturday that Israeli strikes in Lebanon have killed over 200 individuals, labeled as “terrorists and commanders.” On the Israeli side, the conflict has led to the deaths of nine soldiers and six civilians in northern Israel, as confirmed by Israeli officials.
