Israel to halt Spanish consulate for Palestinians

On Friday, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz announced his decision to cut ties between Spainโ€™s diplomatic mission and Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, following Madridโ€™s plan to officially recognize a Palestinian state.

Katz stated on X, โ€œI have decided to sever the connection between Spainโ€™s representation in Israel and the Palestinians, and to prohibit the Spanish consulate in Jerusalem from providing services to Palestinians from the West Bank.โ€ He explained that this move was โ€œin response to Spainโ€™s recognition of a Palestinian state and the anti-Semitic call by Spainโ€™s deputy prime minister toโ€ฆ โ€˜liberate Palestine from the river to the seaโ€™.โ€
