On Saturday, the Israeli military launched a preemptive strike in southern Lebanon, with its aircraft targeting Hezbollah positions, as reported by Israel’s Channel 12.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that Israeli airstrikes demolished a house in the border town of Yarin, leading to casualties. There were also reports of an airstrike in Mays al-Jabal and artillery bombardments near Aita al-Shaab and Rmeish.
Earlier that day, Israeli jets had conducted two raids in the region between Yarin, Tayr Harfa, and al-Jibbain. Additionally, Israeli artillery shelled the Hamoul area east of Naqoura, as well as Tawfa and al-Jidar in Mays al-Jabal, and the outskirts of Houla and Khiam.
Hezbollah, in two separate announcements, stated it had struck the al-Assi and Birkat Risha Israeli posts using suitable weapons.
The outskirts of several areas, including Naqoura, Alma al-Shaab, Tayr Harfa, al-Dhayra, and Aita al-Shaab, were hit by a barrage of heavy artillery shells during the night. There was also heavy machine gun fire around al-Dhayra and al-Bustan.
Over three months of ongoing border conflict has resulted in the death of 190 people in Lebanon. This includes more than 140 Hezbollah combatants and over 20 civilians, among whom were three journalists. In northern Israel, the conflict has claimed the lives of nine soldiers and at least four civilians, as stated by Israeli officials.
The unrest has also forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes on both sides of the border.
