Early Wednesday, two gas pipelines in Iran were hit by explosions described as acts of “terrorism and sabotage,” affecting gas distribution in three provinces, according to reports from state media.
Saeed Aghli, a manager at the National Iranian Gas Company, informed Shana, the energy ministry’s official news outlet, that these deliberate acts occurred simultaneously around 1:00 am in Borujen, located in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, and Safashahr, in Fars province. Aghli confirmed that the incidents led to no injuries.
The attacks led to disruptions in gas delivery to the provinces of North Khorasan, Lorestan, and Zanjan, spanning the northeast, west, and northwest of Iran, respectively.
Authorities have yet to identify the perpetrators or assign blame directly following the explosions. Historically, Iran has attributed similar sabotage activities to operatives associated with Israel, highlighting the ongoing covert conflict between the two nations. Iran has emphasized its support for Palestine as a key aspect of its international relations since the Islamic revolution in 1979, contributing to the longstanding clandestine hostilities with Israel.
