Iran open to US investment but rejects interference

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reiterated that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons and has expressed willingness to welcome American investment, contingent upon successful diplomatic agreements. This marks a notable shift from Iranโ€™s previous stance, which largely excluded U.S. businesses following the 2015 nuclear deal.

President Pezeshkian emphasized that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has no objections to American investors engaging in Iranโ€™s economy. He extended an invitation to U.S. investors, indicating a potential opening for economic collaboration between the two nations. This approach aligns with Pezeshkianโ€™s campaign promises to improve relations with Western countries and alleviate economic sanctions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to meet with U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff in Oman for indirect talks concerning Iranโ€™s nuclear program. While President Donald Trump has advocated for direct negotiations, Tehran has maintained a preference for indirect engagement. President Pezeshkian reiterated Iranโ€™s stance against developing nuclear weapons, referencing the Supreme Leaderโ€™s fatwa prohibiting such armaments.
