Shubman Gill attributes the success India has enjoyed in the current five-Test series against England largely to the performance of their fast bowlers. Ahead of the fourth Test in Ranchi, which begins on Friday, February 23, India leads the series 2-1. However, Jasprit Bumrah, India’s leading wicket-taker in the series with 17 dismissals, has been rested for the upcoming match. Gill praised Bumrah as the pace attack’s spearhead and commended Mohammed Siraj for his impressive performance, particularly in the last innings of the Rajkot Test where he played a key role on a challenging pitch.
With Bumrah resting, Siraj is expected to step up as the lead in the fast-bowling department for the Ranchi Test. Meanwhile, India will be without KL Rahul for the fourth Test due to injury, and his availability for the final Test in Dharamsala, starting on March 7, remains uncertain. In Rahul’s absence, Sarfaraz Khan, who impressed on his debut in Rajkot, is poised to retain his spot, while Rajat Patidar, despite a modest showing in his last outing, may also find a place in the starting lineup.
