‘I Am Legend 2’ Producer Teases Exciting Update for Will Smith Sequel

“I Am Legend 2” is officially in the works after much anticipation.

Initially announced in March 2022, there haven’t been many updates on the film until now, but we finally have some news about the project. The original movie, starring Will Smith, was a huge success as it depicted a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a zombie virus that wipes out humanity, leaving a few survivors, with one man ultimately discovering a cure.

The sequel to the 2007 film is moving forward. Screenwriter and producer Akiva Goldsman has revealed that “there will be some good news shortly” regarding the film.

“I Am Legend 2” has yet to secure a director. The first film was directed by Francis Lawrence.

Addressing whether Will Smith’s character survived, Goldsman confirmed, “We’re using the alternate cut where Will’s character lives, and things don’t go well for humanity.”

The sequel will feature Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan in leading roles. Their production companies, Westbrook and Outlier Society, will produce the film alongside Warner Bros.

Goldsman hinted at what to expect from “I Am Legend 2”: “The world returns in a way that is kind of spectacular – an exciting playground for all of us – not your father’s I Am Legend.”
