Hochstein Informs Bou Saab That 1701 Is Not a Priority

During a meeting in Dubai, U.S. presidential envoy Amos Hochstein informed Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab that U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701 is currently not a priority, and amending it is not being considered at the moment, as reported by the media.

Bou Saab, in a discussion with al-Joumhouria newspaper, revealed details of his extensive meeting with Hochstein. He emphasized that any dialogue regarding a feasible solution ensuring stability along the border cannot commence prior to establishing a ceasefire.

The border between Lebanon and Israel has experienced escalated hostilities since the onset of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7, primarily involving clashes between Israel and Hezbollah, as well as Palestinian groups.

Since the beginning of the conflict in October, over 110 individuals have perished on the Lebanese side, predominantly Hezbollah combatants and a number of civilians, as per AFP reports. On the Israeli side, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of six soldiers and three civilians, according to statements from Israeli officials.
