Hochstein and Berri have fruitful conversations

During a productive discussion on Tuesday with Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein received positive feedback, according to parliamentary insiders. These sources, speaking to Asharq al-Awsat and quoted on Wednesday, highlighted the active role the U.S. is playing to avert further escalation in the region.

Lebanese authorities indicate that while the situation on their end is under control, the same cannot be assured for Israel’s actions.

Hochstein has been actively promoting peace along Lebanon’s southern frontier with Israel, amidst increasing hostilities that have followed the onset of the war between Israel and Hamas.

In a Beirut press conference, Hochstein expressed the United States’ desire to prevent the Gaza conflict from spilling over into Lebanon.

After an unexpected attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, the border area between Lebanon and Israel has been the scene of escalating retaliatory actions, particularly involving Israel and Hezbollah, who is aligned with Hamas. This has raised concerns about a possible wider outbreak of conflict.
