During a gathering with Lebanese expatriates in Michigan, U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein assured the group that the U.S. is committed to assisting in the reconstruction of devastated villages in southern Lebanon, as reported by the media.
Hochstein expressed optimism, stating in the Nidaa al-Watan newspaper that successful negotiations concerning Resolution 1701 and the election of a stable president could usher in an era of economic growth for the region.
Furthermore, sources familiar with Hochstein’s initiatives revealed to the newspaper that the U.S. plans to seek financial support from various countries to aid in the rebuilding efforts in southern Lebanon.
