Hezbollah launches suicide drones and Burkan rockets at Israeli posts

On Friday, Hezbollah launched an aerial attack using suicide drones targeting Iron Dome launchpads in al-Zaโ€™oura, located in the occupied Golan Heights. This action was a retaliation for Israeli airstrikes on the southern Lebanese border town of Houla.

Additionally, Hezbollah fired โ€œheavy-caliber Burkan rocketsโ€ at Israeli positions in northern Israel. In response, Israeli artillery shelled the southern Lebanese border town of al-Wazzani.

The previous night, Hezbollah announced that two of its fighters from Houla had been killed by Israeli airstrikes. The Israeli military reported that it had targeted Hezbollah operatives in two buildings located in Houla and Maroun al-Rass.

On Friday, Hezbollah stated that their attacks on the Biranit command center and the al-Baghdadi post, followed by a rocket strike on Shomera, were retaliations for Israeli attacks on residences in Maroun al-Ras and Aitaroun. The group also claimed responsibility for a Thursday night attack on Ramot Naftali in northern Israel, in response to Israeli strikes on southern Lebanese villages.

The cross-border violence between Lebanonโ€™s Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas, and Israel has been ongoing since October 7, when Hamas launched an attack on southern Israel, triggering the current conflict in Gaza. In Lebanon, at least 443 people have been killed in the cross-border exchanges, including 86 civilians and numerous militants, according to an AFP tally. Israel reports that 14 of its soldiers and 11 civilians have died on the Israeli side of the border.
