Hezbollah rockets strike Israeli positions in Brital retaliation

On Thursday, Hezbollah announced it had fired over 60 rockets at Israeli military sites in retaliation for airstrikes conducted overnight.

According to a statement from Hezbollah, their fighters launched a missile attack using more than 60 Katyusha rockets targeting multiple Israeli military positions, including locations in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights.

The group stated that these strikes were a response to Israeli attacks the previous night on the Bekaa region, specifically the Baalbek area in eastern Lebanon.

In response, Israeli warplanes carried out raids on Wadi Slouki near the southern border town of Houla, while Israeli artillery targeted Rachaya al-Foukhar.

The Israeli military reported that it detected around 40 rockets launched from Lebanon toward the Golan Heights, resulting in no injuries. The military confirmed that Israeli forces retaliated by striking the sources of the rocket fire.

The Israeli army also noted additional attacks from Lebanon targeting northern Israel, to which they responded with further strikes.

Earlier on Thursday, Lebanese state media reported an overnight Israeli air raid in the Baalbek area, a Hezbollah stronghold, which occurred hours after Hezbollah had attacked deep into Israeli territory.

Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that five Israeli air raids hit the outskirts of the eastern Lebanon mountain range around midnight (2100 GMT Wednesday), slightly injuring a civilian and causing fires.

A source close to Hezbollah informed AFP that one of the strikes targeted a Hezbollah military camp. An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed to AFP that an airstrike had indeed been carried out deep in Lebanon, targeting a Hezbollah facility associated with their precision missile project.

The Baalbek region in the Bekaa Valley, which borders Syria, is known to be a Hezbollah stronghold.
