Hezbollah Retaliates Against North Israel Following Maaroub Strike

Overnight into Monday, Hezbollah fired a barrage of rockets towards northern Israel in retaliation for Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military reported that approximately 30 projectiles were fired from Lebanon, targeting the area near Kabri, although no casualties were reported. In response, the Israeli forces conducted several strikes, including one on a Hezbollah cell near Taybeh and a military facility in Derdghaiya, which resulted in secondary explosions indicating the presence of ammunition.

The Israeli airstrikes also resulted in casualties; two Hezbollah fighters were confirmed killed in Taybeh and additional fatalities from earlier strikes. The Israeli military continued its operations against Hezbollah positions in Adaisseh, adjacent to Taybeh. Strikes in Maaroub, near Derdghaiya, led to injuries among Lebanese and Syrian nationals, with at least one Lebanese and 11 Syrians wounded, two seriously.

In retaliation, Hezbollah targeted an Israeli military base near Nahariya with Katyusha rockets and surveillance installations in Metula. The ongoing exchanges have been part of near-daily hostilities supporting Hamas since their October 7 attack, which initiated the current war in Gaza.

This conflict, including the recent strike in Beirut that killed a senior Hezbollah commander and the targeted killing of Hamas’ political leader in Tehran, has resulted in significant casualties and displacement on both sides. Lebanese sources confirm over 565 deaths, mostly combatants but including civilians, while Israeli reports acknowledge the deaths of 22 soldiers and 26 civilians, with thousands displaced by the ongoing violence.
