Key Lebanese political figures, including President Joseph Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, have not yet received Hezbollahโs position regarding recent amendments made to a U.S.-drafted proposal. These revisions were prepared by a joint committee formed following a series of focused deliberations held at Baabda Palace. The document in question was originally presented by U.S. envoy Tom Barrack as part of diplomatic efforts addressing regional tensions.
According to reports, Hezbollah is expected to submit its official feedback to Speaker Berri either by the end of Friday or during the course of Saturday. Once this response is received, the committee representing Lebanonโs executive branches is scheduled to reconvene to finalize and submit the countryโs consolidated stance.
Sources familiar with the developments indicated that Hezbollah is seeking firm assurances that Israel will adhere to the terms outlined in the revised proposal. These guarantees are seen as critical due to Hezbollahโs concerns rooted in previous agreements. The group reportedly views the Barrack proposal as overly favorable to Israeli interests, drawing on past instances where Israel allegedly failed to uphold international agreements and ceasefire arrangements, including United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
