Hezbollah Member of Parliament Ali Fayad has urged for a blend of wisdom, patience, and strength in navigating Lebanon’s increasingly volatile security situation, particularly in the southern regions. Speaking during the funeral of a Hezbollah fighter killed in recent hostilities, Fayad emphasized the need for national resolve in the face of continuous Israeli aggression.
According to Fayad, Lebanon is in a stage that demands not only composure and resilience but also unwavering commitment to defending its people and territory. He pointed out that Lebanese factions have reached a consensus that the government should be at the forefront of managing the country’s collective response to Israel’s ongoing violations.
Fayad reiterated Hezbollah’s backing for the Lebanese government’s efforts, especially in implementing the terms of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a cessation of hostilities and withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory. He stressed that these commitments are critical for safeguarding national sovereignty and preventing further escalation.
The Hezbollah MP also warned that Israel’s strategy appears aimed at preventing displaced Lebanese residents from returning to their border villages. He accused Israel of using unfounded pretexts to justify its strikes on civilian areas, describing this as part of a broader plan to destabilize the South and reshape Lebanon’s political and social landscape through military pressure.
Fayad argued that the danger posed by Israel has gone beyond issues surrounding Hezbollah’s weaponry and now threatens the entire Lebanese state—its borders, governance, and societal fabric. He noted that this unfolding crisis is exacerbated by international indifference and what he called complicity on the part of the United States.
He also criticized domestic political factions that, in his view, fail to grasp the scale of suffering experienced by southern communities. Some, he claimed, have provided rhetorical cover for Israeli actions, undermining national solidarity and the internal stability Lebanon desperately needs.
Fayad concluded by calling on all Lebanese to recognize the gravity of the current situation and stand together to confront the risks posed not only by foreign aggression but also by internal fragmentation.
