Hezbollah meets Aoun amid tensions

Hezbollah’s parliamentary delegation, including MPs Mohammad Raad, Ali Ammar, and Hassan Fadlallah, recently visited former President Michel Aoun in Rabieh to discuss the current military and domestic situations.

MP Mohammad Raad highlighted the unbroken and ongoing dialogue with Aoun, emphasizing its importance for Lebanese unity across different regions and sects, especially given their history of cooperation on national matters.

The meeting served as a platform to update Aoun on the critical military developments in the south, steering clear of public disputes. Raad expressed the delegation’s views on reinforcing national unity against the backdrop of Israel’s actions in Gaza, which he described as genocidal.

Raad also addressed the internal Lebanese challenges, stressing the need for positive intentions and responsible dialogue among all political entities to tackle the nation’s pressing issues. This visit comes amid recent critiques from Aoun and his son-in-law, Jebran Bassil, leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, regarding Hezbollah’s engagement on the southern front in solidarity with Gaza, further complicating their already strained relationship over presidential elections and the caretaker government’s operations.
