Hezbollah Launches 30 Rockets at Israel After Nabatiyeh Drone Strike

Late Thursday into early Friday, approximately 30 rockets were launched from Lebanon into northern Israel, a response to an Israeli drone attack that significantly injured a Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon, according to Israeli military reports.

An Israeli military spokesperson confirmed that these rockets targeted the regions of Ein Zeitim and Dalton in northern Israel. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from these rocket attacks.

This barrage followed an incident earlier on Thursday when an Israeli drone targeted a vehicle in southern Lebanon, leaving a Hezbollah commander and his associate injured. This was confirmed by sources from both sides of the conflict.

The Israeli forces acknowledged the drone strike, stating it was directed at a “Hezbollah commander” accused of orchestrating rocket attacks across the border into northern Israel. The attack occurred on a primary route into Nabatiyeh city, an area away from the usual conflict zones along the border.

Following the strike, Lebanese authorities secured the impacted roadway, as reported by Lebanon’s National News Agency. The incident caused the vehicle to ignite after being hit by a missile from the Israeli drone.

In retaliation, Hezbollah announced it had struck an Israeli military base in Kiryat Shmona and launched a missile at the Meron air control base, aiming to respond to Israeli assaults on Lebanese villages and civilians.

The Israeli military intercepted a suspicious aerial object from Lebanon and conducted airstrikes on Hezbollah facilities, including a truck carrying weapons and military sites in Khiam and Kfar Hamam.

Israeli Air Force Chief Tomer Bar stated that in the event of a war on the Lebanese frontier, Israel would launch extensive strikes against numerous targets within Lebanon, including major cities and the Bekaa Valley.

This exchange of fire has heightened concerns of a conflict similar to the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, a situation Western nations are keen to prevent. The ongoing violence has resulted in numerous casualties on both sides, with Hezbollah targeting Israeli military positions along the border since the outbreak of the Gaza war last October, following an attack by Hamas militants on Israel.
