Herzog: Resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza is “absolutely not” the stance of Israel

Israel’s President Isaac Herzog, in a recent interview with Kristen Walker on NBC’s Meet the Press, categorically denied that the idea of forcibly relocating Palestinians from Gaza represents the official stance of the Israeli government. Herzog emphasized that such a notion is “outright, officially and unequivocally” not aligned with the policies of the Israeli government, parliament, or the public opinion.

Addressing the statements made by certain Israeli cabinet members that seemed to imply a forced displacement from Gaza, Herzog clarified that these comments do not reflect the government’s position. He acknowledged the freedom of speech in Israeli society, allowing individuals to express their views, but reiterated that these opinions do not constitute official policy.

Herzog also highlighted Israel’s efforts to counteract the activities of Hamas, which Israel considers a terrorist organization. He mentioned that these efforts are aimed at preventing Hamas from carrying out terror activities both globally and within Israel.

Additionally, Herzog expressed gratitude towards U.S. President Joe Biden for his unwavering support of Israel. He also noted the significance of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s upcoming visit to Israel, seeing it as an indication of the United States’ commitment to helping resolve the conflict.
