Since October 7, the Palestinian Health Ministry reports that approximately 500 healthcare workers have been killed and hundreds more injured due to Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip.
The ministry’s statement also highlights that over 310 health workers have been detained and 130 ambulances destroyed by Israeli forces in Gaza. Additionally, health facilities and personnel in the occupied West Bank have faced over 340 attacks.
The ministry criticizes what it views as deliberate targeting of medical infrastructure by Israel, which has severely limited Palestinian citizens’ access to essential healthcare services. Furthermore, it notes that substandard water and sanitation conditions, compounded by overcrowding, have led to a rise in diseases and premature deaths, creating a public health crisis in Gaza.
