Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea has once again voiced his criticism of Hezbollah for instigating a conflict with Israel, asserting that the Lebanese people are bearing the brunt of the consequences.
In a televised interview on Thursday evening, Geagea questioned why Lebanon, among 22 Arab states, is the only one shouldering the repercussions of regional events. He accused Hezbollah of seizing control of the stateโs decisions, stating, โHezbollah is in Lebanon but its heart is with Iran.โ
Geagea also took aim at caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, expressing that he would not have accepted the role if he were in Mikatiโs position. He criticized Mikati for acting according to his cabinetโs inclinations and pointed out that Hezbollah, its allies, and the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) dominate the cabinet.
Geagea revealed that his party plans to submit a petition to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, urging him to convene a parliamentary session to discuss the clashes in southern Lebanon. Despite his disapproval of Hezbollahโs unilateral actions, Geagea affirmed his commitment to Lebanonโs defense in the event of a full-scale war.
โIn the event of a full-scale war, we will definitely be on Lebanonโs side,โ he declared.
