Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea has emphasized that Lebanon cannot afford to wait for a resolution in Gaza before addressing its own issues. He stressed the urgency for the government to take immediate and decisive action regarding the southern front by implementing Resolution 1701.
Geagea criticized the activation of the southern front, calling it a “major sin” rather than a mere mistake.
Regarding the presidential election, Geagea firmly rejected the idea of electing the next president by the 2026 parliament. He assured that the Lebanese Forces are making every effort to ensure that the presidential election is not postponed until after the upcoming parliamentary elections.
He urged centrist MPs to take responsibility and help elect a president promptly, stressing that this is the only way to resolve the current crisis.
