Geagea Warns: Hezbollah Dragging Lebanon into ‘Most Dangerous War’

Samir Geagea, the leader of the Lebanese Forces, indirectly criticized Hezbollah, accusing the group of undermining the state and actively working to dismantle its foundations daily.

In a speech given during Holy Week, Geagea depicted Lebanon as a country devoid of order, with its sovereignty compromised and its decisions dictated by external forces. He highlighted a situation where the country is dragged into perilous conflicts against the will of its people, implicating a particular group in this criticism.

Furthermore, Geagea criticized the group for its ability to obstruct justice at will, as seen in the Beirut port explosion case, and for hindering the presidential election process by making demands. He accused the group of forming alliances with corrupt entities to further a non-Lebanese agenda and to dominate state control.

He pointed out that Hezbollah had escalated tensions on the southern border with Israel on October 8, aligning itself with the Palestinians and Hamas following a significant attack on southern Israel, leading to a subsequent war.

This escalation has led to continuous skirmishes between Hezbollah and Israel, culminating in the deaths of at least 326 individuals in Lebanon, including both Hezbollah militants and 57 civilians, and displacing tens of thousands from both southern Lebanon and northern Israel.
