Watch: Geagea Accuses Government of ‘High Treason’ Over South

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Friday accused the caretaker government of “high treason” due to the situation unfolding in southern Lebanon.

Speaking at a press conference, Geagea emphasized that, despite being a caretaker government, it remains responsible for the Lebanese people.

Geagea noted that U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein arrived with proposals and met with various officials but ultimately received Hezbollah’s response through intermediaries.

“We are not seeking a civil war, but these issues need to be addressed appropriately,” Geagea said, urging the government to “take control of the situation” in the south.

He also advocated for the gradual implementation of U.N. Resolution 1701, the withdrawal of Hezbollah from the border by 8 to 10 kilometers, and the establishment of Lebanese Army control over the area.

“The government must make a patriotic decision and not simply act as a subordinate that follows Hezbollah’s directives,” Geagea added.
