Gaza Rescuers Report Eight Killed in Israeli Strikes

On May 25, 2025, Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of at least 23 Palestinians, including civilians and key personnel, as reported by local health authorities. The attacks targeted multiple areas, including Jabalia in the north, Nuseirat in central Gaza, and Khan Younis in the south.

In Jabalia, a residential home was struck, leading to the deaths of five individuals. Among the casualties was journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda, who perished alongside several family members when their home in the Jabalia al-Nazla neighborhood was hit. This incident brings the total number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 to 220.

In central Gaza’s Nuseirat area, two people, including a pregnant woman, were killed when tents sheltering displaced individuals were targeted. Additionally, a strike in Khan Younis resulted in the death of a senior official from Gaza’s civil emergency services, Ashraf Abu Nar, along with several family members.

These airstrikes are part of Israel’s intensified military operations in Gaza, described by the Israeli military as efforts to dismantle Hamas’s infrastructure. Over the past day, the military reported conducting strikes on more than 100 targets throughout Gaza.

The ongoing conflict, which escalated following Hamas’s attack on Israel in October 2023, has led to significant casualties. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 53,939 Palestinians have been killed since the onset of hostilities, with 122,797 injured. Since the collapse of a ceasefire on March 18, 2025, 3,785 people have died, and 10,756 have been injured.
