French Left Victorious, to Announce PM Candidate This Week

The French left will select a candidate for prime minister from their winning electoral coalition within the week, according to Socialist Party leader Olivier Faure on Monday.

Faure’s socialists are part of the New Popular Front (NFP), a left-wing alliance that secured the most seats, but not a clear majority, in Sunday’s parliamentary election.
