France Summons Israeli Envoy Over Attack on UNIFIL Peacekeepers

France announced on Friday that it had summoned the Israeli ambassador in response to reports from U.N. peacekeepers in Lebanon that Israeli fire had struck their headquarters, injuring two staff members.

“These attacks represent significant breaches of international law and must come to an immediate halt,” stated the French foreign ministry. “Israeli authorities need to provide an explanation for their actions.”

As a result, the French government has called in the Israeli ambassador to discuss the matter further.
