Final Destination 7 advances with Bloodlines writer on script

The Final Destination franchise is set to continue, with a seventh film now confirmed to be in the works. Lori Evans Taylor, co-writer of Final Destination: Bloodlines, has been brought in to pen the screenplay for the upcoming instalment.

This announcement follows the massive success of Bloodlines, which was released earlier this year to both critical acclaim and record-breaking box office numbers, grossing $285.3 million worldwide — the highest total in the series’ history.

Franchise Legacy and Story Formula

Since its debut in 2000, the Final Destination series has built a loyal fanbase through its signature blend of suspense, supernatural elements, and elaborate death sequences. Each film follows a similar premise: a character has a sudden premonition of a catastrophic event, enabling them and a small group to escape fate — only for Death to hunt them down in unpredictable and gruesome ways.

Bloodlines, the sixth entry, introduced a fresh twist, centering on a college student who races to save her family after repeated nightmares foretelling her grandparents’ deaths. In uncovering a hidden family history, the film deepened the lore surrounding Death, a thread many fans hope Final Destination 7 will explore further.

Production Plans and Future Direction

Producers Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Jon Watts, and Dianne McGunigle are returning to oversee the project. While it is not yet confirmed whether Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein will reprise their roles, the creative team is expected to build upon the expanded mythology hinted at in the last film.

Plot details remain under wraps, but given the series’ history, viewers can expect inventive, high-stakes death sequences and possibly a deeper exploration into Death’s rules and origins. With over $946 million in global earnings to date, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down, and anticipation for this next chapter is already high.
