Heavy Fighting Near Khan Younis Hospitals Rages On for 7th Day

Intense conflict continues for the seventh consecutive day near the Nasser and Al-Amal hospitals in Khan Younis, Gaza, as confirmed by both the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The IDF has reiterated its commitment to conducting targeted operations against Hamas in the southern city. They assert that Hamas members are active within and around the Nasser and Al-Amal hospitals.

According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), these hospitals have been effectively under siege due to escalated military activities by the Israeli forces in Khan Younis over the past week.

As of Sunday, PRCS has raised alarms about depleted oxygen supplies at Al Amal hospital, severely hindering the ability to conduct surgeries. Efforts are being made in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross to establish a safe route for delivering oxygen cylinders to the hospital.

The IDF maintains that they are in continuous communication with the hospital management and medical personnel to ensure that the hospitals stay functional and accessible. They have clarified that they have not issued evacuation orders for either hospital, but have arranged for a specific corridor for civilians who choose to evacuate.

The Nasser Medical Complex is currently the largest operational health facility in the Gaza region.
