Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially unveiled an expanded voice cast for Zootopia 2, bringing together a mix of Hollywood icons and fresh talent for the much-anticipated sequel. Among the standout additions are Andy Samberg, Macaulay Culkin, Brenda Song, and David Strathairn, who will voice members of the influential Lynxley family.
Introducing the Lynxleys
The Lynxleys are set to make their debut as one of Zootopia’s most powerful dynasties. Known for constructing the city’s towering weather walls—structures that preserve its unique biomes—the family plays a pivotal role in the world-building of the sequel. Academy Award nominee David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck, The Bourne Ultimatum) voices patriarch Milton Lynxley, a figure of dignity and quiet authority.
Culkin takes on the role of Cattrick, the eldest son, while Brenda Song portrays the intelligent and ambitious daughter, Kitty. Rounding out the siblings is Andy Samberg as Pawbert, the fun-loving youngest member of the family. Adding a real-life twist, Culkin and Song—partners offscreen—will portray brother and sister in the film.
Judy and Nick Face a New Threat
At the heart of the sequel, audiences will once again follow rabbit police officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and her former-con-turned-partner Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman). Their latest case begins with the shocking arrival of Gary De’Snake, a reptile voiced by Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan. In a metropolis exclusively inhabited by mammals, his presence raises suspicion and sets the stage for a high-stakes investigation.
The adventure will push Judy and Nick into unexplored corners of Zootopia, where they receive unexpected guidance from a quirky “therapy animal,” Dr. Fuzzby, voiced by Emmy-winner Quinta Brunson.
Returning Favorites and Fresh Additions
Fan favorites are also back: Idris Elba reprises his role as Chief Bogo, Jenny Slate returns as Bellwether, Shakira once again voices Gazelle, and Alan Tudyk is back as the sly Duke Weaselton. The sequel also introduces new supporting characters voiced by Fortune Feimster, Jean Reno, Patrick Warburton, and Wilmer Valderrama, further broadening the ensemble.
Disney’s Biggest Animated Franchise Grows
Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard—the creative minds behind the first film—Zootopia 2 is written by Bush and features a score by Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino. Producer Yvett Merino, who also worked on Encanto, returns to oversee the project.
The original Zootopia (2016) was a box-office juggernaut, grossing more than $1 billion worldwide, earning a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score, and winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. With its timely themes of prejudice and inclusivity, the film struck a cultural chord and became one of Disney’s most beloved modern classics.
Expanding the Zootopia Universe
Disney isn’t stopping at the sequel. The franchise is expanding across theme parks, with a full Zootopia-themed land now open at Shanghai Disneyland and a new 3D attraction slated to debut at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom in November 2025.
Zootopia 2 will be released globally on November 26, 2025, promising to deliver another blend of comedy, heart, and social commentary—this time with an even richer cast of characters.
