Since the onset of the Gaza war, frequent clashes have occurred along the Lebanon-Israel border between the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and Israeli forces. Hezbollah has been actively conducting cross-border assaults in solidarity with Gaza and Hamas. In response, Israel has carried out bombardments, primarily confined to areas close to the border. However, the risk of a wider conflict persists.

Since the hostilities began in October, more than 140 individuals have died on the Lebanese side, predominantly Hezbollah fighters, but also over a dozen civilians, including three journalists, as per an AFP report.
