With the death toll exceeding 20,000, the United Nations has once again postponed the vote regarding humanitarian aid to Gaza

The United Nations reports that over half a million people in Gaza are currently facing starvation, as the inflow of food into the besieged region remains insufficient amidst Israel’s ongoing intensive air raids and ground operations.

Palestinian authorities announced on Friday that the death toll in the region has now surpassed 20,000, which constitutes about 1% of Gaza’s population before the war. In response to Hamas’ incursion into southern Israel on October 7, which resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and the taking of around 240 hostages, Israel has lost more than 130 soldiers during its ground offensive.

The situation has led to tens of thousands of Palestinians being displaced, seeking refuge in shelters and tent camps. With the onset of winter, there is a heightened concern about the potential spread of diseases among these crowded conditions. Meanwhile, the U.N. Security Council has once again postponed a vote on a resolution that aims to cease the hostilities in some manner, which would facilitate the delivery of more humanitarian aid to the region.
