Daniel Craig Teases Next James Bond

Are we finally going to find out who the next James Bond will be? Daniel Craig, the actor who last portrayed the iconic 007 spy, recently hinted at his replacement during the 15th Governors Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. According to People, Craig provided a clue about who might succeed him in the role.

At the Governors Awards, Daniel began by saying, “Let’s just get something out of the way,” before introducing James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who were receiving the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.

“If you came here this evening to find out who the next James Bond is, don’t look at me, but he might be in the room. I’m just joking. Maybe I’m not,” he teased.

Daniel Craig gained international fame through his portrayal of James Bond in films such as Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021). After his final film, there was speculation about his potential return, but Craig confirmed he was done with the role and eager to pursue different characters.

So, who will be the next James Bond? Ahead of the awards, producers Wilson and Broccoli acknowledged that selecting a new Bond is “a big decision.”

“Every time we cast a new actor, the films change. It’s the excitement of a new Bond, a new direction. Every one of these people who took on the role offered something new and different,” Wilson explained.

The 2024 Governors Awards also honored others, including the late Quincy Jones, who passed away at 91 on November 3, casting director Juliet Taylor, and filmmaker Richard Curtis.
