A hospital in China has made history by successfully conducting a remote surgery with the surgeon located 5,000 km away from the patient. Utilizing advanced technology and thorough research, a team of doctors enabled their colleague in Shanghai to control a machine that removed a lung tumor within an hour. A video of this pioneering procedure has gone viral on social media.

“A surgeon in China successfully removed a lung tumor from a patient while being 5,000 km away. The doctor operated the machine remotely from his office in Shanghai, while the patient was in Kashgar, on the opposite side of the country. The entire operation was completed in an hour,” stated stock market trader and expert, Naresh Nambisan, in a post on X.

According to the Shanghai municipality’s information office, this remarkable medical achievement was performed by doctors from Shanghai Chest Hospital following “detailed clinical research” and the use of “domestically-made surgical robots.”
