Report: Berri Proposes Package Deal on Presidency, PM, and Government

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has put forward a comprehensive package deal that includes both the presidency and the premiership, according to a media report.

“The proposed deal covers not only the selection of the next president but also the appointment of the prime minister and the formation of the new government,” reported al-Liwaa newspaper on Tuesday.

“This approach is reminiscent of the French proposal that suggested electing Suleiman Franjieh as president in exchange for appointing Nawaf Salam as prime minister,” the daily highlighted.
