Bayern Munich took control of the match from the outset and nearly opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Jamal Musiala found the net, only for the goal to be disallowed due to offside.
Shortly after, Serge Gnabry put the ball in the back of the net, but VAR overturned it. However, the referee identified a foul on Aleksandar Pavlovic in Dinamo’s box, leading to a penalty. Harry Kane stepped up to convert the spot-kick, marking his 50th goal for Bayern Munich.
In the 33rd minute, Gnabry delivered a superb long pass to Musiala, who controlled the ball in the box and set up Raphael Guerreiro. The Portuguese midfielder struck a brilliant shot to double Bayern’s lead. Five minutes later, Michael Olise scored his first Champions League goal, heading in a perfect cross from Joshua Kimmich.
At halftime, Dinamo made a key substitution, replacing the injured Manuel Neuer with Sven Ulreich. This change almost proved costly as Dinamo quickly scored twice within five minutes of the second half starting.
However, Bayern soon regained control. Kane went on to score three more goals, bringing his total to nine in five games this season. Michael Olise also secured a brace, becoming the second French player after Thierry Henry in 1997 to score twice on his Champions League debut.
Late in the match, substitutes Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka added two more goals, capping off a dominant 9-2 victory for Bayern.
Harry Kane was the standout performer, notching a hat-trick and achieving several milestones. With three penalty goals and a tap-in, he surpassed 50 goals for Bayern in all competitions. Kane also surpassed Wayne Rooney’s Champions League goal tally, becoming the highest-scoring Englishman in the competition’s history with 33 goals.
Dinamo Zagreb’s defense struggled throughout, conceding three penalties and being overrun by Bayern’s relentless attack, particularly in the second half.
