Jebran Bassil, leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, on Wednesday praised Hezbollah MP Mohammed Raad’s resilience following the death of Raad’s son in an Israeli airstrike in south Lebanon last week.
In a show of solidarity, Bassil emphasized the need for Lebanese people to honor the sacrifices of each other’s martyrs. He expressed these sentiments while extending his condolences to Raad in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The memorial service for Raad’s son, Abbas, who was one of five Hezbollah fighters killed in the airstrike on a residence in the southern town of Beit Yahoun, was attended by prominent figures. These included Hezbollah’s deputy chief, Sheikh Naim Qassem, the head of Hezbollah’s political council, Ibrahim Amin al-Sayyed, and the leader of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, as well as Hezbollah MPs and former minister Ziad Baroud.
