The Lebanese Army recently conducted a comprehensive inspection of a site in Choueifat, following allegations by the Israeli military that Hezbollah was operating an arms production facility there. According to Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee, Hezbollah had attempted to reconstruct an underground weapons manufacturing site in the Choueifat neighborhood, situated in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
This facility was reportedly established beneath residential buildings housing approximately 50 families and was located near a school. The Israeli military claimed that Hezbollah evacuated engineering vehicles from the site prior to a scheduled inspection by the Lebanese Army, only to return them afterward, suggesting an effort to conceal activities at the location.
Contrary to these assertions, media reports have described the site as a plot of land utilized by a contracting company for storing equipment and pipes related to a local water supply project. The vehicles observed at the site were said to belong to this company and another specializing in rubble removal.
The Israeli military has expressed concerns that Hezbollah’s activities in civilian areas pose significant risks to local populations. They have indicated that operations will continue to prevent Hezbollah from establishing such facilities, which they view as threats to regional stability.
