Algerian football international, Youcef Atal, has been convicted in France due to a social media post related to Gaza

Youcef Atal, an Algerian international footballer currently representing Ligue 1’s Nice, has received an eight-month suspended sentence from a French court. This verdict stems from his involvement in inciting religious hatred through a social media post related to the Gaza conflict.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Atal has been fined 45,000 euros ($49,000) for sharing a video that advocated for a “black day for the Jews,” as determined by the Nice criminal court.
