Megan Thee Stallion faces workplace harassment accusation

Megan Thee Stallion is facing a lawsuit from a former cameraman, Emilio Garcia, who has accused her and her team of creating a hostile work environment. Filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the lawsuit implicates Megan Pete (Megan Thee Stallion’s legal name), her entertainment company, her touring entity, and Roc Nation.

Garcia, who started working with Megan in July 2018, claims he was misclassified as an independent contractor rather than an employee. This classification, he argues, deprived him of California’s legal protections like healthcare benefits and overtime pay. He also alleges that despite changes made by Roc Nation to the payment structure in August 2022, which moved to a pay-per-task system, the workload and time demands did not decrease, leading to reduced compensation.

The complaint details an uncomfortable incident in June 2022, where Garcia claims Megan and another woman engaged in sexual acts next to him while in an SUV in Ibiza, Spain. Garcia felt trapped and distressed, stating he was in a moving vehicle in a foreign country and had no way to leave the situation.

Furthermore, Garcia accuses Megan of body shaming, alleging that she derogatorily referred to him as a “fat bitch” and criticized his eating habits, which was particularly hurtful given her public advocacy for body positivity.

He believes his June 2023 dismissal from Roc Nation was a direct retaliation for his complaints regarding labor and wage issues.
