On Tuesday, Hezbollah launched attacks on Israeli soldiers stationed at the Malkia post in northern Israel. In response, Israel conducted artillery strikes on the outskirts of al-Naqoura in southern Lebanon.
Earlier that day, Hezbollah issued a statement threatening retaliation against Israel for the killing of senior members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards during an airstrike on Iran’s consulate in Damascus, Syria, the previous day. Additionally, Hezbollah reported the loss of one of its members, stating he died “on the road to Jerusalem.”
The airstrike on Damascus resulted in the deaths of eight Iranians, two Syrians, and one Lebanese individual.
The backdrop to these events is the ongoing war that began in October, during which Hezbollah and Israel have engaged in almost daily exchanges of fire across the border, with Hezbollah supporting Gaza in the conflict.
