Israel-Hezbollah clashes: What’s new?

On Friday, the Israeli military conducted airstrikes on several towns along the southern border, while Hezbollah launched attacks on northern Israeli positions. Hezbollah announced it targeted Israeli outposts at al-Malkia and al-Marj, along with a military group near al-Raheb. Concurrently, Israeli airstrikes hit al-Naqoura, Alma al-Shaab, and Aita al-Shaab, with artillery fire directed at the outskirts of al-Wazzani. This follows overnight Israeli airstrikes on Kfarkela, al-Naqoura, Alma al-Shaab, Tayr Harfa, and Shamaa, and Hezbollah’s six attacks on Thursday targeting northern Israel and the Kfarshouba Heights.

The ongoing conflict has heightened tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border since the Gaza war began in October, prompting efforts from international mediators to avoid a full-scale conflict in Lebanon. According to an AFP tally, the violence has resulted in the deaths of at least 322 individuals in Lebanon, predominantly Hezbollah fighters, but also including 56 civilians. Meanwhile, Israeli forces have suffered casualties, with at least 10 soldiers and seven civilians killed due to the skirmishes.

Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah commented on Wednesday, suggesting that the Israeli military is too worn out for a comprehensive war, highlighting what he perceives as signs of weariness among Israeli forces.
